Chemainus, land of murals

Chemainus has gone from a boom town of mining, fishing and forestry practices to a town without a future until it was decided that murals could help turn the town around. In 1982, the first five murals were painted and today there are close to 40 plus 12 sculptures. This vibrant town now attracts over 400,000 annual visitors. I know that many towns have murals but Chemainus still ranks as one of those that you must visit at least once. Combined with theatre and outdoor markets, Chemainus is a must see on your trips to Vancouver Island.
