And you thought you were old!

I just turned 50 and everyone is telling me that I’m old. You wouldn’t believe the cards I got. Well, I have news for you! I’m just a baby in the real world. Take a look at this. We went to the Duncan Forest Discovery Center on the weekend and one of the displays is a Douglas fir that stared to grow 1,300 years ago. Unfortunately this tree blew down in 1962 but it sure makes our lives seem very short and insignificant. This tree was around when the vikings discovered North America, when Genghis Khan rose to power in 1206, when Columbus reached America in 1492 and unfortunately not when I celebrated my 50th birthday. Of course there are rocks and other old items around as well. A slice of the tree is on display, quite mind-boggling.
