Mediterranean Light, Marseille, France

Marseille is the oldest city in France having been founded in 600 BC by the Greeks. It’s situated in a stunning location overlooking the Mediterranean and captures the beautiful light that saturates the temperate area.

Modern Marseille is a regional centre for culture and entertainment with an opera house, theatre, numerous museums and trendy clubs, bars and restaurants. Fortunately it hasn’t yet been overrun by tourists.

Kevin, what beautiful light and composition in these shots. I’ve never been to Marseille but always wanted to go.

By the way, your header blog name is quite pixilated. Was that an intentional typeface choice or is it a font substitution thing? As a working graphic artist, I notice things like that. I’m using Firefox on the Mac.

    Thanks all,

I know Marseille gets a little of a bad rap but I was very impressed with the city and hope to return. A lovely place for photography.

Sara, it is pixilated, a weird font Courier (BM). I’ve been playing with this new theme the past few days and a better logo is in order as well as cleaning up a lot of css! Have you had the snow in Seattle? Lots here on Vancouver Island!

What beautiful light! I love it when I get snippets of information along with great picturs. (I’m woefully ignorant of European history.) Thank you for sharing.
