Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is located in the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona on the Mexico border. Known primarily for the monuments namesake, the Organ Pipe Cactus, the national park also has extensive stands of Saguaro cactus and both Teddy Bear Cholla (jumping Cholla) and Chain Fruit Cholla. The surrounding desert landscape is stunning as well with the Mount Ajo mountain range along the eastern border and numerous canyons and washes.

As with so many desert areas the light is generally best towards sunset and early in the morning when beautiful cloud formations are often seen. Midday tends to be very harsh.

The Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument photo gallery is now online on my stock travel photography site.
