Pender Island New Years Lantern Festival

Pender Island celebrated it’s 10th annual New Years Lantern Festival this past year. It sure doesn’t seem that long ago! This year a new theme was performed, “Spirit of the Whale” celebrating the orca whales that frequent the area. Fortunately the weather was good for a change. I recall a few very cool and somewhat snowy previous renditions.

A new gallery is online at Spirit of the Whale. As usual the lighting conditions were terrible making for an interesting shooting experience. At least the modern cameras can handle high ISO’s quite well.
