Why do I Blog?

The reason for my blog is twofold. Firstly, I enjoy sharing my travel photos with the world and blogs are a great way to do this. I hope you spend some time wandering through the posts enjoying the imagery and getting a feeling for what my “artsy” life is like. Secondly, I love teaching photography and have had pleasure watching people become better photographers many times over the years. I encourage everyone to ask questions about specific images, technical questions, location questions or…. I have no secrets and can even take criticism!

I haven’t addressed this question on my blog, but my about page tells a pretty clear story.

I love your photos and your teaching. Thanks for keeping me in the loop, so to speak………………:)

  2. I don’t know about you, but in addition to your observations, I find blogging a good way to stay on task. I always feel challenged to take some new photos or write some new tips (or research a technique) simply because I feel I owe something to my readers. It’s a nice release. I never would’ve thought I took to it so well.

Another random observation…you, Lisa and I seem to be checking in on each other’s blogs. I think that’s kinda cool.

    Lisa, it’s always a pleasure.

Travis, it really is cool the small communities that form through blogging, something I’m really enjoying. I thoroughly enjoy reading Lisa’s blog as I grew up in the area and feel that it keeps me in touch a little, your blog gives me food for thought on the process and appreciation of photography.

I find it very easy to not “think” when I work as I have being doing this for so many years that it’s all second nature. It’s very useful for me to analyze what I’m thinking and share that with others. This blog has given me reason to do this on a regular basis, not just when I’m giving the odd talk.

I enjoy visiting your blog because of your beautiful imagery, your passion for art and photography and the opportunity to for me to learn more about taking pictures. I like blogging because of the sense of sharing and community, and it’s fun.

I always love finding out why people blog. Seems we do for many of the same reasons, with just a few variations. :) Great to get to know you better. :)
