The Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson is definitely an aviation nerds paradise. Over 300 airplanes of all types are on display, many beautifully restored in 8 hangers.

The airplanes on the tarmac are an amazing snapshot of aviation history since the 1940’s and while many of them are in somewhat rough shape at least someone had the foresight to keep them from being scrapped. Many are the only examples left. You really can’t help looking at these and wishing someone could finance a few restorations. While the museum actively works on a number of restorations at any given time the finances required must be staggering.
