While the emphasis is on wooden boats at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival there is plenty else going on to keep everyone entertained. After all, living wooden boats 24 hours a day is likely not a very healthy affliction although I expect many in attendance do just that. I, for one, like to get out and listen to music, eat well, go for walks and watch people have fun. Sixteen hours a day of wooden boats is just fine.

While this all may be somewhat related as the music tends to be on the maritime side and the art tends to be maritime and the displays tend to be maritime and….., there are great restaurants of many nationalities, an excellent wine store to poke around in and the many old buildings to explore. Unfortunately there’s almost too much to do so this year I missed the Saturday market and a number of other events I visited last year. Always next year!

    Hi Diane and Lisa,

It was a great event, lots of fun. I admired the folks swinging off the bowsprit, looked like a great deal of fun. Unfortunatly I had a shoot coming up so wasn’t able to join them as I would have liked to try it.
