RV Camping in an Orange Grove

Californians always seem to have a fun way to make a normal experience a little more interesting. On friends recommendations we stopped at Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield for the night, making a long drive down to the Palm Springs area from Sacramento a little more palatable by breaking it into 2 days. Last year we spent the night at Wal-Mart, this year in an old orange grove. We felt a little small again being surrounded by large RV’s but it’s all relative, many of the folks that stay in the RV parks spend a good portion of their lives in their “mobile homes” or in some cases their RV is their home.

Orange Grove RV Park was fun. Being parked in a manicured orange grove was unique and an added bonus was being able to pick oranges for breakfast. Nothing better than fresh squeezed orange juice. Lots of old farm equipment decorates the property, I suppose in some ways it’s a little like having an orange grove in Disneyland!

The weather is also getting warmer as we head south, especially enjoyable as there are reports of snow back home. A few more days and we will have reached our final destination of Arizona and the amazing canyons, flowers and skies that beckon.
