The Battery Point Lighthouse is located in Crescent City, California near the Northern California and Oregon border. The Battery Point Light was first lit in 1856 and later automated in 1953.
As with so many of the Oregon and California lighthouses, Battery Point is very picturesque, especially as dusk settles on the region. The coastline in this area of Northern California ranks as one of the most impressive readily accessible areas anywhere and is well worth the visit. As an added bonus, many of the tallest trees in the world (California’s coast redwoods can grow in excess of 350 feet high!) are located in the Redwood National and State Parks located nearby.

Kevin these are stunning photos. I love the lighthouse lighting but I am consumed by the ocean. Beautiful, beautiful work.

Beautiful. I love lighthouses and the California-Oregon coast, so these are all winners for me. The last one is best, I think.

Beautiful photo!
The shore along that area is amazing. There are also a lot of interesting food stops in the area.
You can always be counted on to capture beauty. I want to be there right now.

Thanks all! You really can’t beat a good looking lighthouse! I finally have internet access again so will drop by and visit your sites in the next day.
I love traveling along the Oregon coast. When you get to the border of Northern California it changes so dramatically. We often fly down to a place called Siletz Bay. There’s a great restaurant there called the Sidedoor Cafe. – Margy
